City of Monroe Announces EPA Brownfield Check Presentation

(Monroe, LA) - City of Monroe is pleased to announce the upcoming check presentation for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Brownfields Cleanup Grant Program.

The check presentation is scheduled for October 3, 2023, at 10:30 AM outside the Ouachita Candy Company in Downtown Monroe.

The City will be awarded $827,900 by EPA. The Brownfields Cleanup Grant will help remove environmental contaminants in the Ouachita Candy Company property, mitigating a longstanding barrier to reuse and redevelopment. Grant funds will be used to prepare cleanup plans, conduct community engagement, and clean up the property.
