"The Tree Legacy Program provides a way for you to invest in the future of Monroe by planting trees."

The City of Monroe Beautification Department offers an interesting way to honor a friend and beautify the community at the same time. The benefits of the Tree Legacy Program are many:
The Tree Legacy Program is comprised of a selection of trees that are native and disease resistant. The variety range from small flowering trees to major hardwoods and evergreens. The trees will be at least 1" in diameter and will be planted in a designated area, or thicket, to minimize damage from mowing equipment. Donations may be made in any amount and will be combined with other contributions to purchase trees to be planted on public lands in our community. Individual tree memorials can be facilitated. These special projects include a large tree and plaque.

Memorial Tree List
The City of Monroe Beautification Department believes in planting trees for posterity. They enrich our lives emotionally and physically. They make our homes more valuable and our cities more liveable. Communities that value their urban forests have discovered the economic benefits of such a program. Cities beautifully planted with trees are more likely to attract new businesses and are more appealing to tourists. Trees are good for business.

We have a purpose in structuring the Tree Legacy Program around definite projects. By concentrating our efforts on a specific site each year, we are better able to make a significant visual impact on the community, while streamlining the maintenance responsibilities. A new site is selected annually.

This program offers a unique opportunity for you to honor or remember a special person by making a contribution to the Tree Legacy Program. In addition to memorials, suggestions for donations include the birth of a child, holidays, anniversaries and even a "thank you" to a guest speaker.

All memorial contributions will be promptly acknowledged. To be a part of Monroe's Tree Legacy Program, contact the Beautification Department:
