About our award winners:

Rising Young Alumni Award - Joey Trappey is a highly successful ULM alumnus.  He is a former ULM Football & Basketball player and is currently the owner of two of the area's most popular restaurants, The Fieldhouse and Trapp's.  He is also a ULM L-Club member.  A native of New Iberia and a member of the Trappey family of hot sauce fame, Joey now makes his home in Monroe with his wife, Holly, and two beautiful daughters.

Golden Arrow Award - The Honorable James E. "Jamie" Mayo has served as the Mayor of Monroe, Louisiana, since 2001.  Previously, he served as the Monroe City Councilman for District #5 after working in the insurance industry for over 20 years.  He is a former ULM Basketball player under Coach Lenny Fant and is an L-Club member.  Mayor Mayo, and his wife, Angela, are longtime ULM supporters.

"I have the highest regard for the many experiences I had during my days at NLU/ULM.  I met my wife Angela there.  I played on the basketball team for four years, winning a conference championship my senior year.  I earned a BBA degree which has benefited me throughout my 20+ year career in business, and my 20+ years in public service as a city councilman and now Mayor of the City of Monroe.  Angela and I have been actively involved as alumni because we
want to help further the strong academic reputation of our school.  We are MONROE PROUD of ULM!" -- Mayor Jamie Mayo, City of Monroe, Class of 1979.
